October Wedding in Old City Park - Moab, Ut
Venue - Old City Park in Moab, UT
Florist - Farmyard
I worked with Mike at Bike Fiend when I lived in Moab. I met his partner, Trista, while doing some web work for her and continued doing various photography gigs for her (amazing) massage therapy, yoga, and coaching businesses. Incredibly, they asked me to take their wedding photos after our first bridals session in Canyonlands and Ida Gulch. It was my first wedding and I’m so grateful they trusted me with their day!
Old City Park is one of the few large green spaces in Moab. It’s hard to find little oases like this but a nearby creek in Spanish Valley allows for tons of beautiful cottonwood trees and a green lawn. It’s a popular wedding venue for locals because it’s a city park and maybe not the typical Moab look, but if you live in Moab you get enough red rock on a daily basis ;)
Mike and Trista bought their house just before the wedding so we started there while Trista got ready. Then I headed over a little early to Old City Park to take images of the venue before the guests arrived. Trista’s family had all come together to cook the food, set up the altar and tables and chairs, all primarily led by her sister. Fortunately the Sandersons are a big family!
Mike and Trista arrived with their dog Zuko. Mike always loved my dog River and I’ve always adored Zuko, which was the sweetest, gentlest boy I’ve ever met. Trista’s two dogs are a little more rowdy so they stayed home for the wedding.
Trista and Mike and walked down the aisle togetherafter all of their family, close friends, and Zuko. They said their vows in front of their friends and family from Moab and all over Utah and then everyone moved to tables for dinner while the band set up. Everyone danced the rest of the night to the band as the hot sun set, a classic way to end an evening in Moab.
