Wedding Bridals Session in Canyonlands Pt. 1 - Moab, UT
Mike and Trista are friends and old coworkers of mine so we got a little creative with their day. They planned on getting married in Old City Park in southern Moab but Old City Park is lush and green, nothing like the rest of Moab. So we decided to make the most of Moab with a split session at Canyonlands National Park for sunset and Ida Gulch for sunrise.
We met at Grandview Point in Island in the Sky, my favorite place for wedding photos in Canyonlands. It has a 1 mile hike to the actually Grandview Point; I don’t usually go all the way there with clients though. From the very start of the Grandview hike, you have insane views of Monument Basin below, the Needles further out, and the Abajo Mountains in the distance. Canyonlands has started to get busier as Moab tourism grows as a whole, but at sunset you can still have far more privacy here than you can at Dead Horse or Arches.
Trista, Mike, and I walked along the rim, stopping at massive cliff drops and making the most of the golden hour and blue hour. Trista was immediately ready to kick her shoes off and feel the earth and Mike was constantly pulling her back from the edge of the cliff.
Some of these photos remain my favorite to this day.
