Teton Canyon Mountain Bike Elopement Sneak Peak

Couple - Aaron and Taylor

Venue - Treasure Lake and Sheep Bridge Trail

I always thought that if I was going to shoot a mountain bike elopement, it would be in Moab. But with the Targhee, Teton Pass, and Big Hole trails, Teton Valley folks go pretty hard too so a Driggs bike wedding is also fitting.

Aaron and Taylor are friends with Jamye Chrisman, who I frequently second-shoot for, and she referred them to me since she was out of town. I’d heard of Aaron since we both contribute to the bikepacking.com world, and it turned out we had a bunch of mutual friends. He even created the original Wydaho 100 race and bikepacking route, which I raced (and dropped out of after 50 miles because I was fresh off ankle surgery) in 2019, it’s second year. So cool vibes all around!

Bikes are such a key part of their lives so Aaron and Taylor decided that they wanted more bike photos together than typical couples photos, so these images don’t have a very traditional feel. I aim to create images that have a generally consistent aesthetic but content-wise feel authentic to each couple, and this gallery is a great example of that.

This is also the second wedding in a row that I shot with people wearing Bedrock Sandals (the mountain clogs, in this case), which I absolutely love as a long time photographer, writer, and pal of Bedrock Sandals. Aaron bought them intentionally for their wedding and I love seeing how important a little sandal brand has become to so many people’s lives (myself included).

Getting to shoot weddings for locals is extra special because I already know that this place means as much to these couples as it does to me, since we’re all dealing with the immense challenges of making this place home. Nancy and Justin’s wedding was another great example of this.

All in all, it was great to explore the other side of the Tetons more with some locals who know it well and blend my outdoor adventure and wedding work a little.
